Let the playoffs begin!
On Saturday January 24th, Hagersville Novice Paul's Sports played their first playoff game on the road against Cayuga.
It was a great way to start off the playoff season with lots of back and forth play, strong offence and defence. Cayuga started off the scoring early in the first and added one more before the period was over. Midway through the second period, Braeden Heeg scored with assists by Gavin Stewart and Mason Mitchell. Cayuga answered right back to make it 3-1. Not to be outdone, our Hawks were able to score twice to tie the game up before the end of 20 minutes. Carly Waldbrook scored on a pass from Grace Taylor and Mason Mitchell snuck one past the goalie assisted by Braeden Heeg. The Hawks took this momentum into the third and Braeden scored his second of the game, once again from Gavin Stewart to give us our first lead of the game. The team worked hard to hold onto the lead keeping the puck down in the Cayuga zone. Despite our goalie Austin Topp making some great saves Cayuga was able to tie the game up with 2 minutes remaining.
The game finished in an exciting 4-4 tie. What a great start to playoffs team!!
