Murray Johnston Local League Tournament
The Hagersville Novice LL 10 Red Star team
participated in the annual Murray Johnston tournament this past weekend. This was our first tournament of the season,
and all of the kids played three great games.
Our first match up was against Penetang Flames.
It was a hard fought game but the team came up short with a score of 8-3
for Penetang. Two of Hagersville’s goals
were scored in the second period by Quintin Salverda and Brady Fess. Ryerson Kett finished off the scoring in the
third.
A pizza party fueled the kids prior to their second matchup again Elmvale Coyotes. This was a nail biter game with great goaltending provided by Cameron Coffey. In the first period Hagersville saw a goal from the point by Georgia Elliott. Elmvale evened the score during the second period. The third period saw lots of action in both ends and with 1.9 seconds remaining in the game Elmvale popped one in. This game was hard played with lots of passing and effort put forth by all the players on the team.
With two losses the team headed for the D division final against Paris Wolfpack. Lots of scoring opportunities for our team during this game. In the first period, goals were scored by Ethan Kett (2), Quintin Salverda (2), Ryerson Kett (1) and Brady Fess (1). Second period action had more goals by Salverda (2), Levi Eggink (2), Brady Fess (1), Ethan Kett (1), and Ryerson Kett (1). The third period saw one more goal by Ethan Kett. Everyone played a part in this win for the team. Every player on the team either scored a goal or received an assist for this high scoring game. Great passing was exhibited!
