December End by Sheila Phibbs
December is a hectic month for everyone, including our Pee Wee Reps who have been busy squeezing in the final games of the regular schedule amidst all the holiday festivities.  On December 9th, they played Tavistock which proved to be another strong western team.  With no goals in the first, the game remained scoreless till the halfway mark of the second when Emma Campbell found the net, assisted by Jordan Guetter.  Moments later, Spencer Martin hit the target with Dawson McKeen lending a hand.  Tavistock responded with two of their own before the end of the period then dominated the scoreboard in the third, handing the Hawks a 7-2 loss.

The following evening, December 10th, was back at home for Hagersville with Aylmer visiting.  This was a well matched game with both teams working hard.  All goals came in the second period with the visitors striking first.  The Hawks came back with one of their own courtesy Dusty McKeen, assisted by Jordan Guetter.  Emma Campbell earned her second goal in as many nights to give Hagersville the lead.  Travis Phibbs and Dusty McKeen assisted the effort.  After Aylmer scored again, neither team could get through to the net in the final fifteen minutes, resulting in a 2-2 tie.

The Pee Wees final home game before the holidays was on December 17th against Norwich.  This was another solid effort for the team though they came up just short, dropping a 3-2 decision.  Dusty McKeen got the first goal for Hagersville with Emma Campbell assisting.  Emma’s scoring streak continued as she netted the other goal, assisted by Travis Phibbs and Zack Demille.

The last game of the schedule is against Simcoe on December 19th (results not available at press time).  The team can enjoy the Christmas break and then start preparing for the upcoming OMHA and Southern Counties playoffs.  There’s a lot of hockey still to be played but, at this time, thanks to everyone for supporting the team so far this season.  The Pee Wee Rep players, coaches and families wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you in the stands in the New Year.
