Southern County playoffs continued on Wednesday, January 7th as the Pee Wees hosted Six Nations.  This was the first meeting since game one of the season and both sides were prepared for anything.  Six Nations scored early to take the lead but Hagersville used a power play to pull even as Jacob Gallagher passed to Emma Campbell from the corner and she got it in.  Owen Prinzen also assisted.  Hagersville went ahead in the second as Owen put in his own rebound, assisted by Justin Wenzowski and Emma Campbell.

An early goal in the third allowed Six Nations to tie things up and then momentum shifted back and forth with neither side able to capitalize on opportunities resulting in a 2-2 tie.  These two teams will be getting more familiar with each other as they faced off for round one of the OMHA play downs on Saturday, January 10th in Hagersville.  Unfortunately, the Hawks found themselves short staffed due to illness taking the unusual step of having Logan Scott play out while Bradley Verral took his turn in net defending against many tough shots.

This game proved to be more challenging than the previous but Hagersville held in tough for the first two periods as the game was scoreless.  Six Nations struck early in the third but Hagersville responded as Travis Phibbs sent the puck back to Owen Prinzen whose shot was redirected by Logan Scott for the goal.  Six Nations continued to apply pressure with three unanswered goals, handing the Hawks and 4-1 loss.

The Pee Wees visited Six Nations on Sunday, January 11th for game two of OMHA’s.  The team is still battling some bugs but appeared to be getting back to health and played a solid game.  The home side took a 2-0 lead into the second but Hagersville cut that in half in the second as Jordan Guetter carried the puck in and shot to Emma Campbell whose rebound was forced in by Logan Scott for his second goal in as many games.  The team continued to create chances but just couldn’t get the puck through for any more goals.  Third period injuries left the team a bit shaken but they showed great character in the face of a big challenge.  Keep up the good work Pee Wees as you prepare for game three of the series in Hagersville on Wednesday, January 14th
