There was just one game on the
schedule for the Pee Wees this past week as Six Nations came to Hagersville on
Wednesday, January 14th with a two game advantage in the OMHA
series. The Hawks were in a must win
situation and down five players making for a nail biting thirty-five minutes.
Action was back and forth to start with neither side able to make a play at the net. Hagersville created chances but continued to be turned away by the goalie. Bradley Verral was solid once again for the Hawks as he frustrated the opposition with numerous saves. The scoreboard was finally lit up mid-way through the second as Justin Wenzowski shot from the point for Dylan Swick to deflect in, giving Hagersville a 1-0 lead.
The intensity and excitement of the game heightened in the third with both teams playing for the win. Six Nations scored to tie then took the lead at the three minute mark. Hagersville gave it everything they had, playing their best game of the series and forcing the opposition to work hard for the 3-1 win. While the loss eliminated our Pee Wees from the OMHA play downs, it also proved what they are capable of, especially under pressure, and that they have much more to give in the Southern Counties playoffs
