Shout Out Shoot Out by Jennifer Russell
On Friday March 20th the Hagersville Restaurant Peewee LL Hawks travelled back to Simcoe for their second scheduled game of the tournament against Leamington Southpoint.

Both sides remained scoreless in the first period but Hagersville was clearly outplaying the Leamington team, keeping the puck in the opposing end most of the time.  Mason Leenders again between the pipes was solid with his stops, frustrating the Leamington team.  With just over two minutes left in the second, Hagersville lined up in the opponents end.  Brett Russell in center won the face off, sending the puck over to Nolan McNeil on the wing; McNeil found the right spot and sent the puck to the back of the net giving his team the lead. Unfortunately Leamington answered back with a goal of their own early in the third to even the score again.  The third period ended with both sides at one and back in to another shoot out for the Hagersville team.

First shooter was McNeil who easily sunk the puck in Leamington’s end but the same happened on Hagersville’s end so the score remained even.  The second shooter for Hagersville was Russell who again found the back of the net for his team while Leenders easily shut down the shooter in Hagersville’s end.  With one more skater left it was either a save or a score that was going to give Hagersville the win.  Fortunately for Hagersville both happened as captain Owen Mattice was shooting for Hagersville and took a shot scoring another for Hagersville’s side while Leenders again on the other end held his own stopping the third Leamington shooter.  Great game played by all the Hawks, as it takes a team to win and everyone on the team played their part this game.  Another win for Hagersville and one more scheduled game to go in the Marci Cook Memorial Tournament.  Go Hawks.
