Blowing Away the Competition in the Peewee A Pool Final by Jenn Russell
On March 26th the Hagersville Restaurant Peewee LL Hawks, in third place of the “A” Pool, journeyed up number six for their semifinal game vs Caledonia 3.

Fans were expecting it to be a tough one for the kids as Hagersville had only beaten this team once during the season.  When the clock began it was Dominic Baillie that opened Hagersville’s scoring chances as he took an incredible shot at a difficult angle that managed to redirect off the goalie’s skates and found the net.  A.J. Elliott took an assist on the opening goal helping out Baillie.  Brett Russell found Caledonia’s net with two minutes left in the first with a dynamite shot from out front that the goalie didn’t see land, with the assists on his goal to Elliott again and Ethan Trainer.  Caledonia answered back with one of their own in the first as well and the period ended 2-1.  In the second period A.J. Elliott shot up the open ice and found the net with an amazing shot of his own buffering his team’s side, unassisted.  Caledonia added another to their board with less than two minutes left in the second but Hagersville wasn’t done with their side as A.J. Elliott sent the puck up to Nolan McNeil who walked in taking a fabulous shot and securing a two goal lead once again for the Hawks.  All the kids were playing a terrific game and it was so nice to see that they had found their grove.  Mason Leenders was amazing in net as always and the fans expected nothing less of him.  In the third Baillie added one more goal to wrap up this game for the Hawks assisted by Owen Mattice and Russell.  The team was ecstatic that they were able to take down the second place team and secured their spot in the Championship game on Sunday in their hometown.  Way to go Hawks!!!!
