The
Hagersville Hawks Novice LL9 team played host to the Caledonia Phantoms on
February 6th. The Hawks came
out strong in the first scoring less than 2 minutes in to the game. The opening goal was scored by Koen Berkel
and assisted by Emily Walton and William Voituk.
Hagersville’s Noah Reicheld also scored in the first, assisted by Berkel and Walton. Caledonia answered back, before the period ended, with one of their own.
Late in the second, Caledonia evened the board at 2, momentarily, until Berkel landed his second of the game to pull ahead, assisted by Reicheld. Cameron Coffey did an amazing job defending his net making some fantastic saves.
Berkel finished up his hat trick less than 15 seconds into the third, unassisted. Reicheld also added to the Hawk’s side assisted by Jacob Yates. Caledonia found some reserved energy in the second half of the third and was able to put themselves within one, with less than a minute left. After pulling their goalie, Caledonia was able to even the board with a questionable goal, with seconds left on the clock and this game ended even at 5.
On February 7th the Hawks travelled to Caledonia to play the Caledonia 4 team. This writer heard from several sources that the Hawks played a fantastic game and although the game ended at a 1-0 for Caledonia the Hawks all played well and as a team. Great job Hawks.
