The Hagersville Novice Local League Hawks played in Caledonia on February 12th against the Caledonia Hornets.  Caledonia put the first two points on the board, one in the first and one early in the second.

These were the only goals Caledonia managed to get past the wall, Cameron Coffey.  Late in the second the Hawks had their first scoring opportunity when Koen Berkel skated in to land a beauty, unassisted.

Berkel scored again tying, up the board, halfway through the third, also unassisted.  Emmitt Houwer scored the go ahead goal for his team when he took a great shot on net that found the board.  Houwer’s goal was assisted by Owen Young.  The Hawks continued to play a great game right to the end taking the win 3-2.

The Hawks played the following day at home against the Stoney Creek 10 team.  The Hawks put two on the board in the first, one from William Voituk assisted by Avery Heaslip and one by Noah Reicheld, unassisted.  Stoney Creek also found one for their side this period.

Stoney Creek took a comfortable lead in the second landing three goals, but the Hawks scored with just over 30 seconds left of this period when Koen Berkel took a shot finding the net, unassisted.

The battle continued in the third as both sides tried their best to land another, but goaltender Cameron Coffey was spot on with his saves, not allowing that puck past and the Hawks couldn’t find any luck on the other end of the rink to land anymore.  The Hawks played with determination and even though they didn’t win they gave it their best.  Final score 4-3.

On February 20th the Stoney Creek 11 team traveled to town challenging the Hawks.  The Hawks knew they’d have their work cut out for them today as several children were out due to illness.  Stoney Creek landed two in the first giving them an early lead, but Cameron Coffey made some great saves only allowing them the two this period.

Early in the second Avery Heaslip made an amazing shot finding the net assisted by Cashton Gowing and Emmitt Houwer.  Stoney Creek found the Hawks one more time this period as well.  The Hawks were wearing down but never gave up as they played another great game.  Only one more goal found the board for Stoney Creek giving them the win of 4-1 but the Hawks played another great game.  Keep going Hawks.
