JUST BAD TIMING...IF YOU'RE A FLAME
This game proved to be exactly what I expected....plus a few bonus goals.  An inspirational speech from the coach about our players, team preparation, determination and what each kid has to offer came just a little too soon if you came into town from Aylmer.  But if you're a Hawks fan then too soon???? Not likely!

The strong defensive play was certainly a highlight as we kept the opposition to just 10 shots on goal and Aylmer is not by any means a pushover of a team.  They are fast, tough and move the puck well through the neutral zone but with our defense blocking shots and the forwards sticking in the zone to help clear it out Nolan had to move out of the net just to stay awake in the second period.

The first period was off to a fast pace as Aylmer was looking for their first goal early, they drove the net looking for rebounds but they were well controlled by our steady defensive play and just past the midway point in the first period the quest for the first goal was complete.  Tyler Matthews from Kaiden Ellerker got us started and as the Hawks began to soar the Flames couldn't find a way to turn up the heat, the next goal came in the dying seconds of the period as Wyatt Norman finished off an excellent offensive shift  with the assist awarded to Tyler Matthews for his second point of the night.

The second period was outstanding although there was only a single marker put up by Chase Bacher and an assist going to Wyatt Norman, the game was played mostly in Aylmers end.  A couple of penalties gave the flames a glimmer of hope but once again team defense paid off as the puck was sent the length of the ice time and time again.

Going into the third period Aylmer still held on to hope as they continued to play hard nosed hockey, but it didn't matter as we kept flying and skating hard to every loose puck, by the midway point of the third period the total was up to 6.  Reilley Bineks positional play paid off as Chase Bacher smartly moved the puck to Wesley Patrick at the point and Reilley redirected it into the Aylmer net.  That celebration felt so good that he went to the same place on his next shift to make it 2 for the night as the trio teamed up for another Hawks tally.  The final goal was put into the mesh by Tyler Matthews as Hunter Gallagher and Rylan McIntee assisted on the closing goal.

Aylmer started to press, no one likes going home without a goal, but a couple of timely saves and few more blocked shots............... another 2 points and the unbeaten streak rolls up to 6 as we get a bit of a rest from the rink.
Next practice is Sunday at 7AM (so don't stay up til midnight) then we play Waterford @ home on Wednesday night.
