The Hagersville Bantam Rep Hawks came out to play on January 18th when Plattsville came to their nest.  The Hawks dominated the first over Plattsville, but only one found its way through this period.  While the Hawks were clearing their zone Brett Russell shot the puck up to Logan Ashworth who skated in for the opening goal.

Ashworth added to his resume when he found the net again, early in the second, assisted by Tucker Awalt.  Another goal was added to the Hawks side when Braden Bond sent the puck over to Win Cooper, whose quick response to send back to Campbell on “D” paid off when Campbell let it go.  Jordan Laforme was a wall this game as Plattsville continued to be denied.  The Hawks defensive team also made it difficult for the opponents to make any moves.

The action continued with Tucker Awalt in the third letting a zinger of a shot off finding the five hole.  The Hawks took goal number five, when Cole Campbell passed the puck over to line mate Jade Bacher, who took the shot from the blue line for the tip in from Brett Russell.

Plattsville found a lucky break with just over four minutes in the game when they managed to sneak one by, but Hagersville wasn’t’ quite done.  Daxton Wybinga sank the sixth and final goal of the game deep from the blue line, assists from Awalt and Ashworth.  Great game Hawks!  Keep playing with this speed and skill and you’ll be hard to beat.

The Hawks continued playing great when they travelled to Burford on January 20th, for the fifth and final game in the first series of their OMHA games.  The team knew they had to win to move on and brought out their “A” game for the occasion.  It was Owen Prinzen that put the first point on the board for the Hawks, as he banked a shot off the boards from his own blue line, while clearing the Hawks zone, that Burford’s goalie wasn’t ready for.  The assists to Logan Ashworth and Tucker Awalt.  Ashworth also found the net in the first assisted by Brett Russell and Daxton Wybinga.

The scoring continued with Russell in the second, when he found the net with a shot of his own, assisted by Awalt and Ashworth.  Jordan Laforme was incredible, as always, between the pipes, not giving Burford any room and the Hawks defensive crew was spot on in getting those pucks out of the Hawks zone and keeping them in Burford’s end.

Burford landed only one shot, early in the third, to put them on the board, but Ashworth answered back with another less than a minute later, assisted by Awalt and Kalvin Logan.  The Hawks kept the score locked at 4-1 as the seconds ticked away, giving them the win and the opportunity to move to the second round, where they’ll be facing Six Nations.  Another great game Hawks!

The Hawks finished off their week the following night, January 21st, in Waterford.  It was clear from the first drop of the puck that the Hawks busy week of hockey had finally caught up to them.  Waterford took advantage of the team’s exhaustion putting two goals on the board, one in the first and one in the second.

Jordan Laforme had a work out this game as he saw multiple shots snagging and blocking as many as he could.

In the third, Jade Bacher woke his team up when he landed a goal on a power play.  Assists to Logan Ashworth and Daxton Wybinga.  Braden Bond scored the Hawks second goal, late in the third, at the end of a power play, to tie up the game, assisted by Jade Bacher and Kalvin Logan.  The board remained at 2 a piece, when the buzzer sounded, giving both teams a point in the standings.  Good job Hawks!
