Season Opener
The Hagersville Hawks Bantam 8's season opened on Thursday in Cayuga Oct. 15. The team looked a little unaware of the their own talent at first, being somewhat tentative to put any pressure on.
Some outstanding goaltending by Bradley Verral kept the team in the game until the captain Hunter Berkel notched the first of the season for Hagersville at the 6 minute mark of the 1st period to spark the team. Assists came from Wes McNeice and Hannah McNeice. Berkel added another at 2:44 of the 1st assisted by Brayden Lance. Cayuga closed the gap to 1 as the period came to a close.
The 2nd period showed a determined Cayuga keeping our team off the score board for the duration.
The 3rd period found Kyle Strobosser bulging the twine 30 seconds in for his 1st of the new season. Assists going to Brett Laforme and Dominic Baillie. Dylan Burman scored half way through the period to notch his 1st in his 1st ever minor hockey game! Assists came from Owen Mattice and Dominic Baillie. The scoring was capped off by Jacob Gallagher with 32 seconds left to go after he blazed down the left side fed from a beautiful behind the back pass from Kyle Strobosser.
