GREAT START
Thursday was everything we could have hoped for, all the kids had fun and...... it's always nice to start the season with a Win and considering that this was the first night we've had the entire team together I would say we can only improve from here.  On to the game story.......................

The game started fast with Glanbrook eager to get the first marker on the board as their speedy forwards dumped the opening face off into our end and they got a couple of early shots but 60 seconds into the first period of the season our little hawks took the game to the other end of the ice.  Rylan "The Machine" McIntee and Alexia Hill were much too fast for the opposition as they skated the puck into the attacking zone, welcome back Josh Sweika who held it in the end moving it up to McIntee relayed to an open Alexia who made no mistake hitting the twine with a beauty wrist shot and the first point was ours.  Nearly five minutes of end to end battle saw the puck make its way past Nolan Williams and the game was even, Glanbrook continued to press and with only 3 seconds on the clock in the first they got an ugly one to drop just on the wrong side of the red paint.

The rest of the game the Rangers were prey to our soaring Hawks as the next four goals went unanswered and Glanbrooks tally stalled at two with a couple of timely saves by our netminder and few bounces in the right direction off the crossbar.  Our speedy forwards weren't going to be outdone as they hustled back to clean up the clearing attempts from our D and relentlessly attack the oppostion.  Just 1:33 into the second and the score was tied at 2 after some nice stick work from Jake Laforme for his first of the season with Assists going to Asheton Schweyer in his hockey debut and another point on the sheet for Rylan assisting on the play.  Caelyn Daglish, also in here first game, was held off the scoresheet but played good positional hockey and was key in clearing pucks from the Defensive end.  Great first game by both of our new players!

Still in the second period and "The Machine" is at full steam as he powered his way around the net and buried a spectacular wrap around with assists to Jake Laforme and Hunter Gallagher to give us the go ahead goal.  More end to end hockey with everyone working hard between the whistles and the buzzer gives both benches a brief rest.  Glanbrook was desperate to close the gap going into the third but our Defense was solid as rebounds were quickly cleaned up and our forwards continued to make short work of getting the puck into the offensive zone.  53 seconds into the final frame and the lead was extended to 2 goals as Dean Eggink was rewarded for his relentless pressure in front of the netminder after picking up a juicy rebound and he made no mistake putting it in the net and then showing the crowd his signature celebration with an assist for Deekyn Bray.  Late in the third we saw McIntee shine again as he removed all doubt that the victory would be ours with another goal and a pair of assists on the game for Bray and Laforme.

Awesome effort by everyone in white on Thursday night, this group of Hawks deserved the Win!

A lengthy break between games and a slow week of hockey, practice tonight @ 8 followed up by a game next Saturday in Hagersville vs Cayuga 4.
