AND TWO MAKES A STREAK
Starting the season with Win was nice but adding another to start a streak........ even better. Goals were a little harder to come by Saturday afternoon as the Cayuga netminder played a good game to keep us off the score sheet until the second period but our defense and goaltending had no problem keeping it even.
The game was all Hawks through the first period but Cayugas goalie stood strong and made some great saves to keep us off the board, our forwards continued to press and early in the second period were rewarded with a goal from Alexia Hill and Assists to Jake Laforme and Deekyn Bray. The goal certainly brought the Stars to life as they controlled the play for most of the second period but our crease was secure and rebounds handled quickly by our defense.
Into the third period and both teams were rolling again with some decent end to end hockey and scoring chances equal at both ends of the ice. Jacob Laforme gave us some insurance half way through the third with a goal assisted by Deekyn Bray as the duo teamed for two points each on the night and on the score board. Cayuga pressed hard for the last few minutes of the game but our D stayed cool protecting the netminder and clearing rebounds to hold on for the shutout.
