The Atom LL9 team played host to Cayuga 4
on November 8th 2017. It was
Cayuga that opened the scoring landing a goal late in the first but Hagersville’s
Quintin Salverda answered back before the end of the period with one as well
unassisted.
The second was all Cayuga when they managed to score two more this period taking the lead 3-1 heading into the third.
Fans were starting to think that this game was going downhill for Hagersville when the score remained at 3-1 with 3 minutes left in the game but Drew Gibbons closed the gap a little when he scored an unassisted goal putting his team down by only one. Less than a minute later Mason Mitchell scored the equalizer to tie up the board with the help of Salverda and Emily Walton. The Hawks were not giving up and were determined to leave their ice with a win. With just over a minute left in the third Salverda found the puck on the end of his stick to give his team the lead when he placed a beauty the Cayuga goalie didn’t see coming with the help of Lucy Dewaard and Tristan Hoyt. As the final seconds ticked down Calvin Eggink once again stood on his head stopping Cayuga at every chance he could. Hagersville took the game 4-3. Great team work Hawks keep playing together and good things will continue to happen.
