HAWKS SOARING
The first of two games against Glanbrook gave the Peewee Hawks lots team to be happy about and the confidence continues to build as the season gets into full swing.  Our first game on the home bench was as much fun to watch as I'm sure it was to play.

October 28th was the first game in our Barn as the home team and the kids made no mistake in letting the opposition know that this is our barn.  Glanbrook started out with quick feet and right off the first puck drop had us on the edge of our seats, they had some speedy forwards and early in the first used their speed to attack with a few odd man rushes.  Our steady netminder stood strong between the pipes keeping Glanbrook off the board with showy glove work until our Forwards settled into the game and showed Glanbrook what team work looks like.  Great puck movement out of the defensive zone and very smart neutral zone play by Dean led to a great goal by Ryan Mattice to get the team fired up.  You could hear Nolan talking to his Defense letting them know when Glanbrook was looking for an easy break giving them time to get back and ensure the attack stayed at the right end of the ice for most of the game.  Connor Mendes made a textbook pass to Chase Broker just over a minute after Ryan's goal for his first goal as a Hawk and Glanbrook was stunned as our Hawks flew over their prey........ only 47 seconds passed before Sam Heeg found himself in the right place at the right time and he buried a rebound and skated off in celebration.  With 15 seconds remaining in the first frame Jack Hill was rewarded for his hard work after Kaiden moved the puck up to Jack and he banged in the fourth goal of the game.

Glanbrook wasn't going down without a fight and skated hard to put one in the net just over two minutes into the second on the power play.  Connor didn't waist much time scoring an unassisted goal to make it 5 for the Hawks 3:48 into the period before Levi Eggink put this game completely out of reach with 3 goals in 3 minutes to show his brother that he's not the only goal scorer in the family and Levi's defensive partner, Kaiden, assisted on 2 of the 3 goals.  Ryan Mattice finished what he started by scoring the 9th of the game early in the third and Hawks coasted to victory in this 9 - 2 game.
