DEFENSE WINS HOCKEY GAMES
Another great game and defense was certainly a key component of the game for both teams with Shots on net of only 7 for Glanbrook and 8 for the home team.  The game was fast paced but the defense kept up and kept shots away from the net, the forwards played defensively as well and took advantage of the few opportunities they had to get on the scoreboard.

Caledonia moved the puck and passed very well through the neutral zone but the attack was frequently neutralized by smart team defense and the puck was quickly cleared on every attack.  Caledonia became frustrated quickly with the little time and space allowed by the Hawks and took a penalty for tripping after a turnover late in the first period.  Kaiden and Dean made textbook passes up to Ryan who took full advantage of the extra space and put the first marker on the board for the home team.

The second period the pace kept up and it was a great end to end game but minimal shots on net and admirable goaltending at both ends had us headed into the 3rd period with a narrow lead.

A questionable call just under two minutes into the first period gave Caledonia the opportunity to get on the board as Caledonia was awarded a penalty shot...... a few instructions for the shooter, the refs cleared the players off the ice, a whistle and the shooter was on her way the net.  Lots of stick handling and side to side movement didn't seem to bother Nolan as he stayed calm and square in his crease and kept the puck on the right side of the goal line.

The penalty shot was fuel for the fire as the Hawks picked up momentum and speed through the remainder of the third period, the pace was too much and as Caledonia tired late in the period.  All that skating in practice paid off as the Hawks remained strong and put two more goals in the net to secure the victory. With 2:24 remaining in the game Ryan Mattice scored with assists to Dean and Adriano and just 12 seconds later Chase Broker earned some additional insurance with help from Sam Heeg.

Next game is at home Saturday November 11th at 6:00 pm.
Speaking of November 11th, don't forgot to honor our veterans on Remembrance Day!
