HAWKS CAPITALIZE ON OPPORTUNITY
Our last trip to Glanbrook in regular season play, and I wish I could say for the season, and it was another great game against a talented Glanbrook team.  The shots on net were 18 Glanbrook and 8 for Hagersville but our Hawks worked hard, played a great game and capitalized when it mattered most.  Most of the first was played in the Glanbrook end and the Hawks controlled the play but had a hard time hitting the target.

The first period was a great start for our team, great defense, good puck control and lots of shots........... but most of them went wide of the net and the single shot on net in the first period.  The refs weren't helping us out by any means but thats to be expected when you head north of Caledonia, Cody Doolittle was the first of 4 players to see the backside of the penalty box door when he got 2 minutes in the locker for Playing Hockey.  We killed the penalty and headed into period 2 with the score tied at 0.

The second shot for the Hawks came early in the second as the Hawks swarmed the net and Connor snuck in a rebound off of Danielles shot.  Glanbrook turned on the pressure and were skating hard pressing for the equalizer but Nolan was there to kick out multiple rebound shots and protect the lead and ensure that the hard work his teammates put in was a worthwhile effort.  The Hawks struck again in the second period and Danielle was leading the charge to the net again, a hard low shot, kick save and Chase was in the right place at the right time as he had the whole net to put the puck into for a 2 - 0 lead.

Into the third period holding onto the hardest lead in hockey to keep......... 2 - 0, a single goal can be real game changer in a 2 - 0 game.  The Glanbrook refs did their part to get noticed after waiving off what was clearly icing and the ensuing scramble in the Hawks end ended with Adriano Moretti in the penalty box, I think the call was skating to closely to another player.  Glanbrook had a couple of good opportunities but Nolan stayed calm and made a few more saves on multiple rebound shots to keep the slim lead safe.  Glanbrook was able to bang one in later in the 3rd after a center picked up his own rebound skating cross crease and tucked just inside the post.  With 2:44 on the clock they pressed hard and had a few more shots on net but the lead was held and 2 more points for the Hawks.

Next game is tomorrow vs Caledonia 1
