The Holiday is Over
Well, it's been a slow few weeks and a couple of lackluster performances going into the break left little to brag about. The DQ Challenge Cup was a lot of fun for kids and parents alike and there was a bit of hockey with a couple of really good games while we were there too! So here we go........... headed into the playoffs and the first game............... drum roll................. Hagersville vs yup you guessed it ......... Caledonia and get used to reading that!
The pools are divided and it's Caledonia vs Hagersville the rest of the way, it's not going to be easy but if it was easy it would probably be boring to watch. Tonights game started slow and I am pretty sure it got slower as it passed... I almost thought I could here the clock ticking at a couple of points in the game with a really quiet crowd and not alot of noise on the ice or the benches.
Caledonia started off the scoring in the first period as a backhand shot fooled our goalie and went top corner far side to get the Caledonia fans to break the whispers in the stands. With Dean and Ryan out of the lineup and Connor not present yet it was sure to be tough to battle back but the kids tightened their belts and started producing some chances, Connor arrived and put the Hawks on the board to even it up early in the second. The puck went end to end several times without too much excitement until late in the 2nd when Connor went coast to coast to bury one five hole and give his team the lead short handed. A few minutes into the third Caledonia tied it up and surprise surprise we were in another tie with this Caledonia 3 squad. A few more exciting moments at both ends of the ice and finish the game with seconds left and a Caledonia breakaway....... but tie game once again. I'm sure one of these teams is going to come out on top before the season is over. Next game is over a week away........ Caledonia vs Hagersville!
