GOOD FIRST WEEK...GREAT HOME OPENER
Just one week since a disappointing loss in Glanbrook our Atom Hawks (11) show Hagersville fans what we've got with a 2 - 0 win at home.  The game in Glanbrook was a good 2 periods but the Rangers clipped our wings with unanswered third period scoring.  A hard shot off the faceoff by Eliza found the back of net to start us off in the first but Glanbrook's forecheck proved to much in a 3 - 1 loss.

Fast forward to Saturday's home opener...WOW

, just a glimpse of what is yet to come this season.  Excellent forechecking and solid D left Caledonia with their head's spinning.  2 goals for Josh Sweika the first a big wrister from the blueline and next an end to end rush with an assist going to Eliza McNeice leading the Hawks to victory and the incredible defensive effort by all 5 holding the blueline.  There wasn't a kid on the bench that wasn't dripping with sweat and smiling ear to ear, GREAT JOB!

Then into Caledonia for another game on Sunday and another excellent effort, but hard work wouldn't be enough this day.  Speedy forwards, solid Defense and almost the entire second period in Caledonia's end wasn't enough... The Hawks more than deserved the win but the Caledonia goaltender was on his game and stole this one for the home team.  Our lone goal was a nice shot from the slot by Colin Fess that found it's way to the twine just inside the post assisted by Reilly Binek and Laney Mitchell. The scoreboard doesn't reflect the better team in this one as our forwards were relentlessly pressuring the play but sometimes you lose the ones you shouldn't and those little Hawks will certainly remember who the better team is when we meet again.
