Overtime in the Semifinal by Jenn Russell
The Hagersville Restaurant Peewee LL Hawks wrapped up the Marci Cook Memorial Tournament, in Simcoe, on March 22nd as they were set to face Delhi in the Semifinal game.

It was a very fast game right out of the gate as Delhi dominated most of the first period but Hagersville was not backing down.  Mason Leenders again terrific in net, as he made some pretty amazing saves for his team.  The board remained scoreless for both the first and second periods until Hannah McNeice found the puck on the end of her stick to put one in for her team.  She was in the right spot when A.J. Elliott sent the puck in to the offensive zone and wasted no time putting it in Delhi’s net.  Unfortunately Delhi was able to answer back on a power play late in the third and the teams were even once again as the final seconds of the third ticked away.  Both teams were heading for a 3 on 3 five minute overtime.  Hagersville tried to find offensive chances taking a risk that cost them to lose the puck resulting in a 2 on 1 rush in to their end.  As Delhi skated in they took a shot or two and continued to pick at the puck until they pushed it through deflating Hagersville’s chances for the championship round.  It was a great effort by all the players this weekend as they continued to grow as a team and the season winds down.  Keep up the great work Hawks and hold your chins high you did a terrific job.
