What Entertainment
On Wednesday Feb 8th, Embro traveled to Hagersville to renew our AE rivalry in the Southern County Playoffs, and no one in the arena was left disappointed.

With the Hawks missing their Captain, Carson Mitchell due to illness, and also playing with a sick defencemen, it was going to be a battle as Embro brought a full squad to town.
The first period was played at a fast, back and forth pace with very few whistles, but lots of entertainment. Embro had a couple chances right off the bat, but Austin Topp as he has been all season long, stood his ground turning them away. The Hawks countered with some chances, but couldn't quite get one into the net, so a highly entertaining period of hockey ended 0-0.

It didn't take long in the second period though for a small mistake by the hawks to end up in the back of their net and Embro had a lead less than 30 seconds in. A couple minutes later Embro was able to add to the their lead by getting another one thru Austin on a rebound in close to make it 2-0. The Hawks as they have shown all season, didn't give up and less than 30 seconds later, Evan Sibbick picked off a pass at center ice, slid it to Owen Doolittle, who turned on the jets, and blew by the defenders before deking the goalie to cut the lead in half making it 2-1. It was then the line of Braeden Heeg, Gavin Simington (typically a defender, filling in admirably for Carson) and Zach Bezemer who started to generate some chances in the Embro end and they were rewarded for their hard work when Gavin fired a puck at the net, that deflected over to Braeden for him to bury it and tie things up at 2. Cam Schweitzer picked up the other assist.

Heading into the third period the pace continued and the excitement of the game kept growing. Embro struck first again to regain the lead. The very next shift, Bezemer received a pass in the neutral zone from Gavin, and drove to the net, where he was turned away by the Embro goaltender, but they couldn't control the rebound and Braeden buried his second of the game to tie it up again. With the action picking up, and clock ticking down, with just under 5 minutes to play Owen Doolittle, used his wheels again to blast thru the neutral zone and gain another breakaway again sliding it into the net giving Hagersville their first lead of the game 4-3. Assists went to Cam with his second of the game, and Connor Mendes. With just under 2 minutes to go, and Hagersville looking to hold onto the lead, Embro carried the play into the Hawks end, and let a wrister from the slot go that found the top corner and squared things back up at 4 which is where the game ended.

Goals - Owen Doolittle (2), Braeden Heeg (2)
Assists - Gavin Simington (2), Cameron Schweitzer (2), Zach Bezemer, Connor Mendes, Evan Sibbick

Player of the game was Braeden Heeg for his outstanding 2 way game.

Next up Twin Center on Saturday Feb 11th.
