The Hawks took to the ice, last Wednesday, in their first regular season game. The Hawks faced off against the Waterford Wildcats, with goalie Mason Leenders in net. The first period started off with a bang, when in the first 20 seconds Justin Wenzowski, assisted by Dustin McKeen and Ethan Fess, landed the first goal.
A minute and a half later Cole Haviland, assisted by Troy Clarkson and Tyler Demille, made the rubber hit the net. At the half way mark Dustin McKeen, assisted by Cole Haviland and Nate Veldstra, put the third goal on the board. Waterford, wasn't going to stand by and watch any longer and they came back and snuck one in. With two minutes left in the first period Justin Wenzowski, assisted by Keaton Garvie and Troy Clarkson, got the fourth goal of ending the period in a 4 to 1 lead.
Waterford got the first goal of the second period but 9 seconds later Justin Wenzowski, assisted by Tyler Demille, would get another goal. Nice Hat Trick Justin!. The period would end with a 5-2 lead for the Hawks.
Dylan Swick, assisted by Dustin McKeen and Nathanael Ellison, would score the first goal of the third. with nothing to lose, Waterford came on strong and score the next three goals. Dustin McKeen, assisted by Keaton Garvie and Ethan Fess would seal the Hawks final goal ending the game in a 7-5 win for the Hawks.
Forward Justin Wenzowski was awarded player of the game.
