The Hawks left the nest and headed for a weekend of hockey in the 2nd Annual Shallow Lake Atom and PeeWee Tournament.
The Hawks faced off against Muskoka on Friday night. The Hawks came out strong and showed Muskoka just what they were made of. The game ended in a 4-0 win for the Hawks. Forward Cole Haviland was awarded player of the game.
Saturday morning the Hawks met Goderich at center ice. The game was fast paced and full of excitement. In the end the Hawks again spread their wings and dominated the board. The game ended in a 4-2 win for the Hawks. Forward Dustin McKeen was awarded player of the game.
The third guaranteed game of the tournament was bright and early Sunday morning against Central Perth. As both teams were going into the game as the only two undefeated teams in their group, this game would determine which team would play for the championship title. It was an early morning for the Hawks but they were there to get the job done and they did just that. The Hawks won, 3-2 and sealed their spot in the championship game. Defenseman Zack Demille was awarded player of the game.
The Hawks took to the ice, Sunday evening, to face off against the hosting team, Shallow Lake, for the championship. The game was fast and furious as both teams wanted to take home the champion title. Both teams managed to get one goal during the regulation time, putting the game into overtime. The overtime period ended with a breakaway goal by Shallow Lake. The Hawks may not have won the game with points on the board but they certainly won in determination, hard work and team spirit. These boys put their hearts into this weekend as a Team and that is a win for everyone.
Great work boys! The player of the game was awarded to the team.
