Battle against Plattsville
In the 3rd and final match - up between the first place Hawks and the last place Plattsville who in the first two match - ups worked hard but couldn't keep up with the powerful Hawks and this one was no different.

It took barely 2 minutes into the game for Hagersville to put one in behind the Plattsville goalie with Zach Bezemer snapping home a 3 on 1 with assists to Carson Mitchell and Braeden Heeg. 30 seconds later that same line combined to bury a 2nd goal with Braeden Heeg punching this one across the line with Carson and Zach grabbing the assists. A couple of minutes later Justin Kerwin fed a pass over to Owen Doolittle who snipped one off the shoulder of the Plattsville netminder and into the net for a 3-0 lead. Evan Sibbick frustrated with a penalty he received, stepped out of the penalty box and 20 seconds later made Plattsville pay with a bullet shot to the top of the net that the goalie had no chance and just like that it was 4-0 barely 5 minutes into the game. The rest of the period saw the Plattsville goalie making some nice saves, while Austin Topp didn't have to face many shots but did have a couple of tricky deflections from Hawks defenceman that he had to deal with. With less than 30 seconds to go, on another hawks deflection unfortunately Austin couldn't stop this one and Plattsville was on the board with it being 4-1 going into the 2nd period.
In the 2nd period it was more of the same from Hagersville with lots of passes and quick puck movement, and Justin getting rewarded with firing one in. Connor Mendes picked up the assist on the goal. With just under 4 minutes to go in the period, Owen fired his 2nd shot into the net making it a 6-1 game. Cam Schweitzer and Hayley Howarth picked up the assists on the play. In a great period of hockey, the passes kept flying around and Carson was rewarded this time with a rebound goal. Justin picked up his 2nd assist of the game on this goal.
With the score 7-1 heading into the 3rd period the kids were really working on positioning and moving the puck to the open player and it didn't take long for that puck to find it's way into the net for an 8th time, this time with Zach getting his 2nd of the game. Evan picked up one assist and Braeden grabbed the other one. The clock kept ticking and the Hawks kept soaring, this time with Braeden slamming home a one-timer off a feed from Bezemer. Cameron also assisted on the goal.
Cameron looking to bury his first of the season took off on a couple of beautiful end to end rushes but with his slick hands he couldn't quite finish, so instead he decided to slide a pass to Evan for one of his big booming point shots. Bezemer deflected it right onto the stick of Carson and he beat a helpless Plattsville goalie to make it 10-1. To the credit of the Plattsville squad they didn't give up, and while they weren't able to slide another one past Topp they did prevent the Hawks from putting anymore in to make it a 10-1 final.

Player of the game was awarded to Braeden Heeg for his excellent positioning and strong back-checking. He also chipped in with 2 goals and 2 assists in the game.
