HOLDING ON TO A PLAYOFF SPOT
I know it's been a while since I put an article and it's been a busy couple of months for sure.  After a somewhat disappointing showing at the Dairy Queen Challenge Cup (which I am pretty sure tag and swimming had something to do with) the kids came home and finished the battle to stay in the A Pool for our Haldimand County league play.  It has continued to be a roller coaster of a season but our kids know how to battle when it counts and have shown that they've got what it takes to win when they use the skills they've been taught.

The goalies have both had some tough battles between the pipes but both continue to do their job well keeping their teammates within a goal for a chance to win every time we hit the ice.  Our playoff round robin started with a tie at home vs Caledonia 2 as both teams battled hard to start the playoffs with an advantage.

Next we would face Glanbrook 9, this game looked as if we would run away with it but our kids learned a valuable lesson about playing until the final buzzer sounds, they seemed to just coast and watch as Glanbrook pounded in 3 unanswered goals and a comeback victory.

Then to Glanbrook to play their #7 team, this team might be in last place but they certainly know how to battle as it was a hard fought game but we managed to hold on for a close finish.  Nolan Williams was on fire diving across the crease to steal what looked like a certain goal and stood confident between the pipes turning pucks away staying calm through the storms.

Back to Caledonia for game 4 of the RR and Joseph was determined to show that he had what it takes as we played another one goal game and raced end to end in a fast paced game on BIG ice.  Unfortunately the rest of the Hawks couldn't find the back of the net and Caledonia 4 would gain the upper hand in the standings.

For game 5 we traveled back to Glanbrook for what was certainly our best game of the playoffs, the kids took the ice with a lot noise and a little bit of a temper as they literally pounded the "comeback" team into submission.  I'm sure they got a reminder of what happened the last time we played them when Glanbrook scored the first goal of the game just 15 seconds in.  A quick line change, a few words from the coaches and watch out Glanbrook...this is gonna hurt...5 unanswered goals, and some acrobatics in the crease put those Devils back in their place as the Hawks go home with smiles.

On another note...if there is anyone that would like to write an article for one of our games, or a season summary, then please feel free to compose the article in an email and I can put it on our website, email your article to [email protected] and please note if you would like your name posted on the article or be left anonymous.

GO HAWKS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
