ANOTHER SHUTOUT
Joseph Pierson picked up his second shutout of the season as the stingy Legion defense cleared rebounds and kept Caledonia's shooters at a safe distance. Caledonia had some good opportunities part way through the second period but Joseph weathered the storm and then watched his teamates dominate the other team to the final buzzer.
Our forwards lit up the scoreboard with Tyler Swick and Laney Mitchell netting their first goals and our defense continuously moved the puck up the ice and banged it into Caledonia's end on almost every clearing attempt. The puck probably didn't see the visiting ice more than a minute in the 3rd period and the Caledonia skaters saw nothing but black and red every time they touched the puck. Eliza and Noah put the first two in the net setting the stage for the siren to go eeeextra long when Laney put one behind the goal line and then Tyler showed everyone the "other way" to sweep the ice with only 1 second left on the clock! The coach made special mention of Eliza and Laney after the game as they were a perfect example of hard work and smart forechecking. And our captain gave the "bucket" to Tyler for his energetic performance and tough play in the offensive corners.
Keep those legs moving boys and girls...we're going to need them when we battle to hang to 3rd place against Caledonia 2 on Friday and then we return home Saturday to play Glanbrook 9.
