pee wee rep week 1 and 2
The first two weeks of the new hockey season have been busy for Hagersvilles's Pee Wee  Rep squad starting with the home opener on Wednesday October 8th . The challenger was Six Nations and it proved to be an exciting night of hockey. Scoring began during a power play as Brayden Lance got he puck to the net for Jordan Guetter to direct the rebound to Dusty McKeen for the one timer goal.
Six Nations tide it up before the period end but Dusty McKeen put us back ahead in the second assisted by Emma Campbell and Jordan Guetter. Once again Six Nations came back to tie it up 2 - 2 and this score held until late  in the third when Travis Phibbs and Dusty McKeen worked the puck into the offensive zone with Travis squeezing the puck

though giving the Pee Wee Hawks their first win of the season.
Hagersville hosted Waterford on Wednesday October 15th and despite solid effort by the Hawks it was Waterford who scored first . Late in the period Keaton Garvie carried the puck deep along the boards  fed it to Justin Wenzowski also assisted by Zack Demille,  Waterford scored to take a 2-1 lead into the third but Hagersville came alive in the final frame with five goals , two more from Justin Wenzowski giving him the first hat trick of the season , two from Dusty McKeen and one from Keaton Garvie . Assists going to Jordan Guetter, Keaton Garvie, Travis Phibbs (2), Justin Wenzowski , Kalvin Logan , Zack Demille , Emma Cambell. It was a solid 6-3 win.

The following evening, the PeeWees began their quest for the Caledonia Challenge Cup . The proved to be an exciting tournament with great competition and solid play from start to finish.Game one for Hagersville was against Glanbrook. Early goals from Travis Phibbs and Jordan Guetter gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead but Glanbrook got one in the first to narrow the lead. Dylan Swick made a shot in the second that deflected into the net but ,once again Glanbrook came within one. Jordan Guetter passed from behind the the net to Justin Wenzowski whose one timer gave Hagersville some insurance as they skated off with a 4-2 victory.

Game Two was Friday against the Hamilton Huskies. This proved to be a nail-biter as both teams had chances at the net.A powerplay opportunity came in the third and it was Justin Wenzowski who hit the net with the assit going to Jordan Guetter. This would be the only goal of the game.for win number two.

Game Three Saturday would decide the winner of Pool B with the match up against Dunnville. The Mudcats were a force to be reckoned with and Hagersville felt the pressue. The Hawks allowed only one goal on numerous attempts but that would be all that was needed for Dunnville to remain undefeated.
The loss put Hagersville in the semi-final against the Mitchell Meteors winners of Pool A. Mitchell took an early lead but the Hawks settled down to keep pace. Midway through the first, Emma Campbell dumped in the puck for Travis Phibbs to get it in the corner and pass to Dusty McKeen whose shot from behind the net went in off the goalie. Just moments later, Hagersville had a goal called back but the team maintained momentum. With the 1-1 tie remaining at the end of three , a five minute overtime period of 4 on 4 was required. This was more edge of your seat action, and just when it looked like the next phase of OT was needed, Keaton Garvie carried the puck in for a shot and Jordan Guetter was in postion to get the rebound and put it in. There was just 1.8 seconds on the clock as the team celebrated earning a spot in the Cup finals.

The Championship game was a rematch with the Dunnville Mudcats . As expected it was a fast paced game with a lot of pressure on Hagersville. The Hawks never backed down scoring in the second with a pass by Owen Prinzen that allowed Dusty McKeen to score for a 1-1 tie. The Mudcats were able to get two more goals while denying Hagersville's efforts resulting in a 3-1 loss for the Hawks.
Although it was not the desired outcome, much success was found in Caledonia as the PeeWees played strong hockey and worked great as a team. Congratulation to Jordan Guetter who was named MVP and to all players and coaches for a job well done!
