A DIFFERENT KIND OF STREAK
On Monday night we rolled into Waterford and there is something..... different.... oh ya, winter finally arrived. I think it is the first time this hockey season that it has been colder outside the rink than inside. Just like the weather has changed our kids have done the same, the last time we played Waterford they out worked us, muscled and intimidated our Hawks all over the ice but like I said, this season is changing.
It started out to be a fast paced end to end game with the teams exchanging goals in the first period but the rest of the game was battles and alot of puck movement but not really the spectacular shootout competition we've become accustomed to. Minimal shots on goal at both ends of the ice kept the fans quiet with the exception of some great pressure for a few minutes in the third as Waterford seemed to be chasing their tales while the Hawks picked apart their prey. The Waterford goalie weathered the storm and held on to the tie......THAT is the other thing that has changed.......TIE games........we went 17 games without a tie and in our last four games we have tied 3 times. Better than a loss but only by a slim margin, especially when it is against a team that has beat us 3 times this season already.
On Wednesday Aylmer comes back to town and after we sent them home without a goal to end their win streak I am pretty sure they are going to be looking to even the score.... let's keep this unbeaten streak going by soaring over the flames on Wednesday night!
