CAN'T BREAK THE TIE!
On Wednesday night the Pirates sailed into to town as we try to sort out which team has the edge as we approach OMHA's, we could very likely face off against them in the second round so any advantage we can find is going to be a game changer.  Early in the first period it looked as if the Pirates had found that edge as they netted the first 3 goals on only 4 shots but by the end of first period we were only down by a goal.  Tyler Matthews scored 2 goals assisted by Chase Bacher, Hunter Gallagher an Reilly Binek.

Switching ends also seemed to switch up the scoring as Noah Michaud put one away early on a beautifully redirected pass from Carson Mitchell.  With the score all tied up Nolan settled down and dug in, the goalies battled it out making big saves at both ends of the ice as both teams threw everything at the net.  Just over a minute remaining in the period and Chase Bacher finishes a perfect pass from Wesley Patrick for another goal and after 20 minutes the Hawks were up by one.  The third period was unrelenting as we looked for the go ahead goal Port Dover retaliated every opportunity in search of the equalizer, the goalie was out for over a minute and the extra attacker was out. A speedy Pirate slipped through our players....around the net and Nolan could not get across quick enough to keep the puck out.  Port Dover celebrated as if they had scored the game winner.............

Our next Southern Counties game against Port Dover isn't until February but I suspect we'll be battling Pirates before that as we could see them for a best of 5 series before the month ends.  That is sure to be a fantastic battle as we will have no choice but to find a victor!
