Hagersville Restaurant take on Caledonia 2. January 31, 2015 by Jenn Russell
On January 31st Caledonia 2 traveled to play at the Hawks nest.  The Hagersville Restaurant Peewee LL team was ready for the challenge.

The first period ended even at zero on both sides.  In the second, Michael Aube, Owen Mattice and Brett Russell worked the puck down the ice.  Russell took a failed shot, caught his own rebound, found a space and stuck that puck in.  Mattice and Aube took the well-deserved assists on the play to give Hagersville the lead.  Caledonia was able to answer back 3 minutes later to even the score and the second period ended, even at 1, despite the fact that Hagersville spent most of the period a man or two down.  The defensive skills of Drailyn Hill, A.J. Elliott, Jaden Speers, Nolan McNeil and AP Ben Greenfield were phenomenal, backed by Mason Leenders, who never disappoints his fans with his fantastic saves.  In the third, Caledonia squeaked ahead momentarily with a questionable goal that was scored off a high stick and after a brief struggle, Hagersville found themselves playing short for most of this period as well.  With the offensive team’s determination, Hagersville evened the score one more time, while shorthanded, when Aube found the puck on the end of his stick while the Hawks were scrambling around the front of Caledonia’s net and wasted no time sticking it in.  The assist for Aube’s goal to Dylan Sherry and Russell.   The final buzzer sounded with the score even at two, but the Hawks were happy with the point and look forward to meeting them again for another showdown.  Keep up the great work Hawks.
