Teamwork Prevails on February 5th at Caledonia 2 by Jenn Russell
On Thursday February 5th the Hagersville Restaurant Peewee LL team travelled to play Caledonia 2.

Hagersville was the first team to mark the board in the first when Nolan McNeil and Brett Russell worked their way down the ice and McNeil sent a beautiful pass over at the right time to find Russell’s stick that sent it to the back of the net.  Team fist pumps for everyone after the goal.  Russell also added another in the first when A.J. Elliott travelled the length of the ice to take a wonderful shot and Russell picked up the rebound, missed and then picked up his own rebound to give Hagersville the lead by 2 going in to the second.

In the second the offensive lines, Ethan Trainer, Michael Aube, Jaden Speers, Dominic Baillie, Hannah McNeice, Brayden Topp, Owen Mattice, Dylan Sherry and Brett Russell continued to drive the net looking for a crack but both teams turned up scoreless in the second and Hagersville continued to hold the lead at 2 at the start of the third.

Caledonia managed a lucky break early in the third, when they found Hagersville’s net with the puck, on a funny bounce, bringing their team back to life and Hagersville’s defensive team Drailyn Hill, A.J. Elliott, Nolan McNeil and AP Ben Greenfield found themselves working hard to keep their lead.  Mason Leenders between the pipes, kept his team alive and they all worked hard for the last minute of the game when Hagersville was short 2 players and Caledonia pulled their goalie giving them a 6 on 3 advantage.  To Caledonia’s dismay, their tactic didn't work and Hagersville held their own until the final buzzer giving them a 2-1 win.
