Murray Johnson Annual Tournament
The kids participated in the annual Murray Johnson tournament this weekend and had a great time. A big thank you goes to all the people who spend many hours in making this event a big success. I would also like to thank the parents who came out Friday night and volunteered to work the prize table for us, much appreciated . The kids lost their first 2 games but came back with a big win Sunday morning to capture their championship game .
Our first game was Friday afternoon against Pelham . The kids came out skating hard but were unable to cash in on a couple early chances and Pelham gained some momentum and never looked back. Aiden scored mid way thru the third period but the Hawks lost 7-1. Saturday afternoon we had a close game with Woolwich but fell short losing 3-1. Both Tyler and Thomas made some big saves in this game and Ryley had a very good game skating hard and battling for the puck. Emily scored our only goal this game on a break away with a great shot to beat the goalie. Sunday morning was our championship game and the kids came out flying. We jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with some hard forechecking which led to goals scored by Kayson and Landen . Dunnville answered back with 2 goals of their own. Ryley came close to scoring his first goal with some hard work in front of the net and Ayden was there to bang in the loose puck. Emily finished off the scoring after a nice pass from Aiden that sent her in on another breakaway and she made no mistake. Final score Hawks 4 - Dunnville 2. Thanks to all who came out to cheer us on this weekend and remember if you see Murray at the rink this year make sure you stop and say hi, I seen a few of our kids do it this weekend and I know he enjoys watching them play.
