Feb 19 playoff game
The Hawks faced off against Stoney Creek for the third straight game and again this game was another close game with both teams skating to a 2-2 tie. The hawks came out a bit slow to start the game but gained momentum and had most of the better chances the last two periods of play.
Stoney Creek had some early pressure and jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. The hawks came out skating hard in the second period. The hawks earned a power play mid way through the period after Hunter used his speed and forced Stoney Creek to take a penalty to give the hawks a power play. We had many chances to score and eventually got on the board when Ayden beat the goalie with a shot between the legs. The hawks kept pouring on the pressure in the third and tied the game up after a long shift in Stoney Creeks end with multiple chances to score which lead to Aiden getting the goal after fighting for a rebound. The hawks never gave up and Emily and Landon almost gave us the lead with a couple of shots that just missed the net. A great team effort was given by all. Up next for the Hawks is a tournament in Port Colborne this weekend. The coaches are looking forward to a fun weekend with the players and their families and we think the players are also but that may be because they get to miss school on Friday :)
