Taking the "C" in the Murray Johnson Tournament
The Hagersville Novice LL Hawks participated in the Hagersville Murray Johnson Tournament this past weekend. Their first face off was scheduled on Thursday November 26th following the opening puck drop against Paris Wolfpack 1.  The first period remained scoreless for both sides with a lot of back and forth action.  Cameron Coffey was amazing between the pipes making several crucial saves to keep the visitors at zero.

In the second Avery Heaslip put the first goal of the game on the board with one of his killer shots.  Emily Walton assisted on this goal.

Early in the third Paris had a lucky break and was able to tie up the score where it remained even until the final buzzer.  Tournament Rules state that in the event of a tie, at the end of the third, the game decider is to be done with a 3 player shoot out.  Hagersville played a terrific game and should be proud but unfortunately lost the shoot out this game.

The Novice’s second game was the following night against the Thornton Tigers.  Hagersville once again played a great game.  The first was again scoreless for both sides.

Thornton was the first team that was able to make their move but not until the second half of the second.  Once Thornton found a groove they managed to sneak two more past giving them a comfortable lead.  Koen Berkel was able to answer back however before the second ended with a point of his own assisted by Emily Walton and Cashton Gowing.

The third period saw a lot of shots from both sides but Thornton was the only team that could land one more late in the period to make the final score 4 -1.  Great game Hawks you tried your best.

The Novice LL Hawks were scheduled to challenge the Woolwich Wildcats for the “C” Championship game on Sunday November 29th.  Woolwich scored early in the first to take the lead but held that lead for just over a couple of minutes when Noah Reicheld made his move evening the score.  Noah’s goal was assisted by Madelynn Lammel and Koen Berkel.

Both teams were playing a great game.  Cameron Coffey made it look easy as he made some enormous saves.  Avery Heaslip found the puck on the end of his stick early in the second and took off up the ice on the break away.  Avery landed a fantastic shot to give his team the lead, unassisted.

The defensive moves of Owen Young, Caleb Brant, Cashton Gowing and Emmitt Houwer backed by Coffey along with the offensive drive of Jacob Yates, Devyn Russell, Madelynn Lammel, Noah Reicheld, Emily Walton, Koen Berkel and Avery Heaslip combined, kept the fans on the edge of their seats right to the final buzzer.  The Novice Hawks took the “C” Championship win with a 2 – 1 score.  Great weekend of hockey Hawks and your fans are very proud of you.
