December 2015
The Hagersville Novice LL Hawks played on home turf December 5th against Stoney Creek.  The puck moved back and forth the whole game but it was Stoney Creek that put the points on the board.

Cameron Coffey made some great saves this game and just keeps getting better and better each time he’s between the pipes.  The offensive players for this game Koen Berkel, Avery Heaslip, Jacob Yates, Madelynn Lammel, Devyn Russell, Emily Walton and Noah Reicheld played some good, fast paced hockey while the defensive players of the game: Emmitt Houwer, William Voituk, Owen Young and Cashton Gowing shut down the Stoney Creek rushes.  Even though the team came up short they all are really improving each time they step on the ice.  Good try team!!!!  Final score 4-0.

The team traveled to Glanbrook on December 8th to face off against the Glanbrook Penguins.  This reporter missed the game but my understanding was that the score was not a reflection of how well the game was played.  Two Hawks made the game sheet this game, Koen Berkel unassisted in the first and Avery Heaslip in the second assisted by Berkel.  Good job team.  Final score was 6-2.

On December 12th Hagersville played against the current third place team in the standings, Caledonia 1.  Caledonia put the first point on the board, less than 2 minutes in to the game, but Hagersville’s Avery Heaslip evened the odds a minute later, adding to his team’s side when he skated in on a 2 on 0.  Caledonia put one more on their side with seconds left of the first period and added two more in the second.  It didn’t look good for the Hawks as they were trailing by 3 going into the third.

Hagersville came alive in the third when Cameron Coffey made some fantastic saves, one of which was right on the line.  Koen Berkel went in on a rush, deked out the goalie to add one to Hagersville’s side, unassisted.   Jacob Yates also found the net when he sent in the puck through the five hole assisted by Madelynn Lammel.  Coffey continued to make some amazing saves keeping the score close and in the last minute of the game the coaches pulled him for the extra attacker.  With only 9 seconds left of the game it was William Voituk that evened the board for the team, assisted by Emily Walton and Koen Berkel.  It was a fantastic game to watch and the players should all be very proud of themselves as they all made the comeback successful.  Final score even at 4.

On December 13th the Hawks traveled to Valley Park to challenge Stony Creek.  The puck moved equally on both ends with a lot of great scoring opportunities from both sides.  Cameron Coffey again had a great game making several saves and the score remained even at 0 until less than 2 minutes left of the game when Stoney Creek was able to sneak one in.  It was a good attempt but unfortunately the team ran out of time to even the board.  Final score 1-0.  Good try Hawks!!!!
