The Bantam Reps opened the second
round of OMHA playdowns on the road against Six Nations, the top team in the
league. The Hagersville fans were on
edge after the home team opened the game with two early goals. But the Hawks
settled in and Jordan Laforme was solid in net with many impressive saves.
After that shaky start, Hagersville came out much stronger in the second with some good attempts at the net. Smart puck handling in the offensive zone enabled Brody Smith to make a scoring shot from the side of the net with Winn Cooper assisting the play. The Hawks continued to put the pressure on and kept the opponents from gaining ground.
Six Nations scored five minutes into the third but Hagersville did not back down. Half way through the frame, the puck was in play at the crease and Jade Bacher was in place to put it away and get the team within one. Daxton Wybenga assisted. Our boys poured all they had into the remainder of the game but were unable to equalize. Regardless, it was a great game by the Hawks who were missing a few players but proved that they can keep pace and be competitive in what will be an exciting series.
