Two Season Firsts
The Hagersville Hawks Atom Local League 9 team played host to Glanbrook’s 7 team on Saturday October 21, 2017.

The Hawks had an amazing game and really came together as a team.  Emmitt Houwer was the first Hawk to hit the scoreboard when he roofed a beauty halfway through the first assisted by Lucy Dewaard and Emily Walton.  With less than a minute left in the period, Mason Mitchell added to the Hawks lead with an amazing shot of his own assisted by Connor Raspberry and Lucy Dewaard once again.

The Hawks continued to come out strong in the second and Calvin Eggink, looking sharp in net, made some crucial saves to keep his team ahead.  Just less than 3 minutes in Mitchell scored another when he was in the right spot out front to accept the pass from Devyn Russell and Emily Walton.  The Hawks continued to add to their side when Connor Raspberry showed off his skills by shooting from a strange angle Glanbrook’s goalie didn’t see coming.

The Hawks were up by 4 goals going into the third and Eggink continued to protect his net hoping for a shutout.  Houwer raced down the rink to give his team one more point with just under 7 minutes left in the third, assisted by Raspberry and Lucy Dewaard and the team took their first win of the season 5-0 with Eggink securing his first shutout.  Good job Calvin and great game Hawks.  Keep up the fantastic work.
