Game Amongst Friends
It was a Hagersville showdown on November 18, 2017 when both Hagersville Local League teams were scheduled to face off against each other.

It was Hagersville CGC that snuck in the first goal, in the first, when Quintin Salverda rushed in on a breakaway and scored unassisted.  The lead didn’t last long when Kaellum Meyer from Hagersville Legion answered back to even the board, unassisted, in the second.  On either end the goaltenders were both phenomenal; Calvin Eggink for CGC made some great saves and Avery Heaslip filling in for Cameron Schweitzer on Legion kept shutting the door every chance he had.

Early in the third CGC’s offensive team of Emmitt Houwer, Quintin Salverda, Cooper Murphy, Devyn Russell, Mason Mitchell, Conner Rasberry, Drew Gibbons and Lucy Dewaard continued to drive the net.  This determination found the puck on the end of Salverda’s stick where he made no mistake to put his team ahead by one unassisted.  Hagersville Legion’s offense continued to push forward with a determination of their own and their defensive team in front of Heaslip was a force to be reckoned with.   Equally great were the defensive tactics of Emily Walton, Treyanna-Lee Green, Ryan Dewaard and Tristan Hoyt backed by the goaltending skills of Eggink.  In the second half of the third Houwer made two shots count for his team, his first was assisted by Walton and the second by Salverda.  It truly was a great game by both sides and nice to see that players from both teams recognized fantastic shots, plays and saves when they congratulated each other with a supporting fist pump or pat on the shoulder to the opposite team.  These teams certainly confirmed that Hagersville Atoms this season are full of true sportsmanship, love of the game and will be a town of tough competition.
