GREAT TOURNAMENT
What a great tournament and thanks to Lucan Minor Hockey for organizing it so well! Day one would have us facing off against an absolute power house of a team in the Ilderton Jets, the Hawks battled hard and put forth the best effort of the season but Ilderton was just too strong and took the first game 5 - 3 leaving  us with only half a point.

This outstanding effort fueled the fire for the rest of the round robin and semi-final game with only two goals against for the balance of the tournament......

Game 2 had us back on the ice Friday evening and the Hawks were sure to be victors this time around as they defended their end and took advantage of opportunities to put the puck in Langton's net.  Langton came out hard in the first period as we regained our legs and Nolan Williams kept that catcher working until the Hawks started to fly.  The next two periods we showed Langton that we weren't staying at the bottom of the standings as we gave up only a half a point in this bout to move us up to second in Pool B, winning 3 - 1.

We finished off the Round Robin with a battle against Dunnville and a battle it was, the Mudcats were certainly determined as they were now sitting at the bottom of the standings and definitely didn't want to head home without a win.  They fought hard and the Hawks...with some weary legs, played excellent defense as Nolan stood guard in the crease for pucks that made it through...there was nothing Dunnville could do to win this one as our forwards patiently waited for opportunities to strike and we took the game 2 - 0.

Sunday morning things looked bleak as our Captain was out of the game with stomach flu but the kids kept their heads held high and our Defense along with the Netminder deserve a special pat on the back after this game.  Playing with only 3 defensemen they relentlessly battled the Walkerton onslaught leaving every bit of effort on the ice and the shots that did get through were turned aside until about 4 minutes into OT as a Walkerton winger stepped around our battle weary defenseman and fired a wristshot that  narrowly trickled through...defeat.

Although we didn't win the tournament we won some awesome battles and it was a fantastic weekend.
