BATTLE WITH THE STARS
Another victory sets the streak at 4 and the longest of the season..... Cayuga might not look that impressive in the Southern Counties standings but we always remind our players that Stars don't go away.......

Cayuga battles hard every shift from puck drop to buzzer and they showed it tonight, let up for a second and they can take over the game as they battle hard along the boards and hussle after every puck.  Despite us being short handed with Owen and Noah absent we found a way and continued the streak in the right direction. Losing Rylan McIntee midway through the second didn't help things any either.  A couple of kids had their arms over his shoulders as he left the bench at the end of the second as if to say, you get some rest buddy, we'll finish this one. It wasn't easy without him as his speed is always missed when he's not there to chase down the opponent in either direction.

Wyatt Norman struck in the first period scoring a well deserved goal as they threesome of Mendes, Binek and Norman pushed the puck up the ice to Cayuga's net and battled until the ref pointed to the back of the net..........GOAL......  Later in the same period the puck was sent into the stars end where Miles Berkel picked it up and threw it at the net, Tyler Matthews the benefactor as he picked up another goal and we were quickly up by two goals.  Cayuga turned on the heat as they could see the game slipping away and they started getting very aggressive on the puck.  As we have many times in the past they don't pay attention to the score, they just keep coming and as the clock got below a minute they found a center unprotected out front and that center finished with nice goal.

Early in the second period Tyler and Miles teamed up again to regain the two goal lead and from there to the end it was non stop pressure from the Stars. End to end play with lots of scoring opportunities at both ends of the ice and with 3:34 to go in the third period the pressure continued to mount as Cayuga pulled back within one goal.  Nolan kept the score in check for a couple of minutes and then a penalty.........sometimes penalties can work in your favour as the kids could just fire the puck down the ice at will hoping to hit the empty net while taking precious seconds off the clock.  The empty net goal wasn't coming but neither was the comeback as we took another 2 points out of Cayuga.

Hopefully the streak will continue when Plattsville comes to town on Wednesday night

I know there has been a lot of inquiries about the Santa Clause parade and like I said in the previous article..........WE ARE PLAYING IN AYR ON DECEMBER 11TH......unfortunately we and the Pee Wee team will miss the parade.  It is very difficult to reschedule games, especially at Christmas, and the OMHA does impose rules and deadlines regarding when your games must be completed so it is simply not reasonable to change the date with only couple of weeks left in our current schedule.
